Let's get started. Hi girl, hi, happy! Whatever day you're listening to this. Oh my gosh, it's so funny. I usually start my life videos and like happy monday, but then I just realized you might not be listening to this today that it launches live um which is a thursday. So this is a biz tip thursday episode of the social selling sisterhood podcast. I am Lindsay darling, I'm the host of the show um just a frenzy plug to please rate and review the show if you have not done so yet. Your reviews me in the world to me and it means we can continue with this free content, which it kind of goes along with my topic for today. So I just wanted to talk to you guys about what a scarcity mindset is versus an abundance mindset. Um so I had an interesting um occurrence happened and I'm going to share it with you without too many of the nitty gritty details, just kind of like an overview. But so obviously I have this podcast and I love investing in myself. I love when I see different courses or um small price memberships come up, especially if they have anything to do with social media or direct selling. Um I'm there because I always want to learn all the things. I love networking with all the people, collaborating with all the people and that's how I've built my business guys. Like I learned the things I talked to the people I make connections because you never know where those connections might get you. So anyway, I am And it's so funny because I mentioned, I believe in my last visited thursday that I was wrapping up a like a coaching program with someone. This is a completely different person. This was not a one on one type deal at all. Um it was just a membership that I bought an annual annual membership as opposed to her monthly offering. And so there's like a membership group and there's some trainings and and some different things. Anyway, I've outgrown it to be perfectly honest. It's the only reason I um canceled my membership, I canceled my membership a while ago um probably about six weeks ago by the time this is airing. And it's just because I've outgrown it and I am choosy with where I invest my money because I'm investing in higher ticket items at this point in my business. That's what I need to continue growing. I've got my basics down heck. I've got even more than my basics down and I really just need to hone in on the special areas that I need to grow my business. So I chose not to renew my annual membership. I didn't cancel anything, I fulfilled it. So that's the background. So I am friends with the woman who is the, who owns this membership site who I really look up to. Um she's done some really amazing things and has helped me along my journey girl, my team and do all the things that she was teaching. So I really admire her. So we're facebook friends and I posted back in january, um, a post on my facebook while you know, basically like a call for guests on my podcast, people who could come in and give you guys value and um then they could promote or pitch anything that they want at the end and I do that guys. And I don't know if you've noticed, I actually don't know if it's aired by the time of this episode or not, but there's several coming. Um well yeah, I have, I have, but I even interview people who are also colour street stylists and they're not all in my down line And I still allow them to share their info if you want to connect with them because let's be real, if you have been listening to me for 60, 70 episodes of the show by now, and you have yet to connect with me to ask me about my product or ask what color street nails are the chances of you buying from one of my guests if you haven't bought for me because I'm assuming you know like and trust me by this point, um it's probably pretty slim and you know what, even if you did then it it just means that you connected with them better and I'm fine with that, that is my energy that I put out in the world and it is an abundance mindset. I'm not trying to keep anything for me um and I don't, I don't think you can grow your business in a true positive energy that way. So anyway, back to my story. So I put this post on my facebook wall in january um and this woman commented and said yes, I'd love to be a guest on your podcast. Um we could even podcast swap, you could be on mine. I said, wow, that would be great. So I reached out to her to schedule the interview in february. I was still a number of her group at that time and she said, well, why don't we just do this? Why don't I set up the interview? We'll do the whole interview, like in my tech stuff and we'll see. And maybe we can repurpose it then, just for your show, like maybe we can make a kind of about both of us and then it will save us both time. I'm like, perfect, I love working smarter, not harder. So anyway, we get this show set up and in the meantime her calendar, it was out like a month from when we chatted and in the meantime, we made the decision to not continue in the membership group. And I got an email from her um basically being like, I don't want to be a guest on your show anymore, like I don't want to do the podcast interview because you're not a member of my academy. And at first I was really confused and just really hurt and I'm like, but you reached out to me to be on my show. Like I didn't know there was anything tied to it that I had to be a paying member of your membership for you to even be on my show. Like, this is just very confusing to me. Um and she responded something else, but basically, like, she had no interest of working with me if I wasn't paying her in this capacity, and it's a very low ticket cost anyway, and I love myself my five minutes of frustration, right? Because I had that plan on my calendar, I had moved things around to make it work. Um I had already planned when I would air that episode on mine, whatever. So it just got me to thinking how, when I started my business a few years ago and my sponsor would talk about a scarcity mindset versus an abundance mindset and she said she would tell me like lindsey, like you will never like your business will never fail because you gave too much of yourself or because you gave too much to other people because I would be like, what do you mean you're sending your customers extra X, Y, Z and their packages like how are you making money and how did it up and mhm I do think obviously there's a limit to that, but she was basically like you reaching out to people, you spreading joy, You going the extra mile and adding a 50 cent whatever into your package you, you letting other people basically on your podcast even though they technically are a competitor of yours, that's not going to hurt you. That's an abundance mindset. A scarcity mindset is when we're like, oh I can't be on your show because I might introduce you to my guests or vice versa whatever and then they might like you better than they like me. Like there's so many guests and so many people that I have had on my show um or even that you see me interact with on my social profiles. If you follow me on social and you can work with lots of them, right? Lots of them have offers. But here's the thing guys and here's the thing that you have to remember with an abundance mindset one, you're putting that good energy out into the world, right? And there's nothing bad going to come from any sort of positive abundance mindset energy that you're putting out into the world and two people are working with you because they know like and trust you, they're not working with you because I know I can trust someone else. So even if you are put in a situation where you know there's someone else from your company and they want to collaborate or whatever and you allow yourself to drift to that abundance or I guess that scarcity mindset, I just want to encourage you to remember that the right people are gonna find you and not to turn down opportunities on burn bridges with anyone when that scarcity mindset creeps in because essentially what was happening with um that woman canceling me from her podcast and from being on mine. I feel like it really came from a scarcity mindset and I know that's not how I went to lay the foundations or growth of my business. So scarcity mindset ladies not going to get you to the places that you want to go. An abundance mindset will get you there and it will get you there the fastest. So I hope you enjoyed this podcast.
