Let's get started. Hello? Hello, everyone. Welcome back to another episode of the podcast. I'm Lindsay Dollinger, and I'm the host of the show and I am recording this now. It's December 29th, 2020. We've all had a year. You're gonna be lying if you didn't. So anyway, I am all pumped because this coming weekend, I'm hosting, like a vision board goals for 2021 planning the year session for my team. And one of the things that we're gonna be talking about is choosing your word of the year. And I did this for the first time. Maybe I don't even know, like, 345 years ago and actually did a block post I found. And that's what I'm going to be referencing. Um ah, lot as we're going down through this, but I just wanted to walk you through how I pick my word of the year. Share what? My word of the year is and encourage you. To do this. You have a few days? Well, actually, this isn't being published until 2021 but do this is the beginning. Once you hear this podcast, I'd love to hear what your word of the year is and share this with people. Put your word of the year places around your house. Put it in your workspace. Really become that word. Okay, so what is the word of the year? Your word of the year is going to be your word. That kind of like drives your intention, your focus for the year. Now, you know this could be life personal life focus. This could be business. Life focused. It can be both. I really like trying to pick a word that can fit into both of my life's, like my personal life, my business life, like me in general. So the first thing I do is I like to bring dump all the things that I would love to accomplish this year and this isn't just like tasks, but who am I gonna be? Who do I want to step into? Um, like, what's my next level south? Look, like I've been doing a lot of work with my next level self. This includes, like, my routine. Um, you know, my daily tasks, everything to do with my business. But also my health, my fitness, financial goals. So what do I want? Everything toe look like? Where do I want to travel? Where do I wanna live? How do I want to feel? How do I want to show up? How do I want people to perceive me? So I bring Dump that. Okay, so maybe you could do this mentally. I have to do it on a pen and paper. However, you need to do it. Just get all of that out. Now that you've written your list, that is everything that you ideally would love to accomplish. That you wanna work on that? You want to make a priority this year? Literally, guys, nothing is too big for this list. Like put all the things even if it's maybe something that you can't achieve for maybe 235 years you never know. You never know what's gonna happen. Like this is your year. Okay? This is your year. We're going to go in with a positive mindset. This is happening. It's going down. Okay, So once you have this list and this list system final, you know, you can pivot. You can make tweaks. You can go back change. You could completely 1 80 degree flip as the year goes along. This happens. But this is what your That's why. Well, let me go back because you could pivot. I'm thinking more like probably business goals, pivot. Maybe your personal life pivot. But this is why we, like, write down things from kind of all realms. Finances, friends, family relationships, everything. Um, that's gonna help you pick a word that can kind of go in like, all the areas. Okay, so now you have your list. I want you to do categories, your list in the items that are gonna be more short term or need immediate action, and then the ones that are longer goals Your six month goal. Your goal. Gosh, I can't talk. Six month goal. Yearlong goal, etcetera. So kind of break it down. You do it quarterly if you want all the things and then break those goals down even further. So we've talked about backward designing your goals. This is kind of what it is. So just for example, if you wrote you wanted to make $100,000 this year, what do you need to do to get there? And I mean, like, daily. So if you divide that by 365 days, you know this will be putting 275ish dollars a day into your savings or making it however you want toe count that. So what's now the plan going to be to get $275 a day Now you can jot down ideas off to the side or whatever to do that. And you could do this later that part later. But that is you don't want to just have these goals and not do anything with them, right? We need to actually plan, envision and execute. So after we've skinned over our goals and our plans and I have another episode about goal setting, that is awesome. So make sure you go back and look for that. Um, Now, look at your list. Is there a common thread? What are you going to need to focus on, like, for yourself to get to these goals? Are there any words that air pulling on your heart or that just keep coming up in your mind? That might be good words to focus on to help you achieve the majority of your list. This word is most likely going to be a positive word. Um, and you could Google to You could just do a simple search. Words of the year. Um and there's one book that I keep seeing people mentioned, and I haven't actually read it, but I think it's called one word. I forget the author, but I've heard really great things about it. So maybe that might be something that you can pull up. But I'm sure there are lists of words. Um, you know, maybe it's positivity. Consistency up level. Oh, gosh. Motivate. I'm trying to think of some of the words I've seen on people's post today. I should have written about, actually, no. What? I do have a list here. I'll share those with you in a second. Okay? so think of some possibilities. You don't just have to think of one, like, just maybe jot down some of the possibilities. Some of the words that are coming to you and visualized what? Focusing on the words you've picked could look like for your life. So, for example, if you choose the word focus is that an area that you need to improve? Is that part of your goals? Will that help you achieve, you know, the majority, or like the overarching theme of your biggest goals? So my word a couple years ago was breakthrough words. Before that, I've used fearless. Intentional. My word of 2020 was. My gosh, what was it? I just had it, uh, someone said earlier in this chat that I was in and I was like, Oh, my gosh, I was my word. Um anyway, so here, a list of some other words and I'm just gonna quickly read some of them off. Simple creative purpose Drive change. Fearless, vivacious love, connect determination and courage. Dream kind community relationships. Wellness, unstoppable vision, purpose advocate, Minimize worthy, transparent health. Inspire happiness. Okay, I'm not going to read this whole Let's create passion patients focus. I think I already said that one thrive. Somebody's around here. One of the ones. Um Okay, so those were just an example, but I really want you to feel what feels good for you. So the word I've chosen drumroll, please, is elevate. And this is one that I actually joined my friend Beth holding Graves. She has a free group. It's called Camp Elevate. And I joined that. I don't know, maybe about a month ish ago, and I've gotten a ton of value out of it, but I was really drawn to the name. I love the word elevate because you know what? I actually think my word of 2020 was up level. And so I feel like I need to keep that momentum going in every, um, aspect of my life, not just my business, right. And I feel like elevate. It's super similar to that, but has just a little bit different vibe. And that's what I need for 2021. I have a lot of really great systems in place. I have a really great foundation. I am working on myself. I'm working on my personal development. I have coaches. I'm doing all the things and I think elevate it just really sits with me. So that's my word. And that's why I want you to feel about your word. So if you are looking at words and you're like, yeah, I mean, I want to be fearless and I wanna make some change. No, like you need to, like, feel the word which I know it sounds crazy, but, you know, do you need more purpose? Would having purpose in 2021 really help you in the aspects that of your life that you wrote down in your paper would dream? Would determination would community help? You would being unstoppable. Would passion do that? So, like, what word is really summing up and driving you forward and your goals for this following year? Um, And when I make my vision board with my team next weekend, I'm totally going to write this word super big in the middle off my vision board so that I see my word surrounded by the individual pictures of my vision for 2021 slash the future because I put all the future on my vision board. I don't just do you know one year, so I hope that helps. I hope you guys find a word. I you know, some people went to some people. 13 No, I'm going to say no. You need to pick one word. OK, pick one word, pick one that feels good with you. Do those steps that I mentioned. And I have no doubt that you're gonna find one that really move your business forward. Um and that you just feel connected with and then put this place is right. Put this word on post its I don't care where you put it. Put it on your phone. Making the backdrop on your phone. Put it on your vision board. Put all the places Don't forget that this is your word and live it become that word. Alright, friends, I hope you had an amazing holiday. I hope you had amazing 2020. Hope you're 2021 is the thing of dreams and I just know that we're going to go really, really great places together. I hope you have a fabulous day.
