In This Episode: A Conversation That’ll Light a Fire Under Your Dream
Today’s episode is a live interview with Bevin Farrand, and I already know this conversation is going to stick with you.
Because it’s not just about business strategies.
It’s about what happens when life throws you the kind of plot twist that changes everything… and you still choose to keep going. You still choose you. You still choose your dream.
Bevin is the creator of the Take the Damn Chance movement, and she shares her story, her framework, and the mindset shift that helps you move forward even when you don’t feel “ready.”
Meet Bevin Farrand
Bevin is a digital marketer, brand strategist, and launch strategist who helps small businesses grow—but her work goes far deeper than marketing.
Her story begins in 2019 when her husband surprised her with a whirlwind trip to France for her 40th birthday.
Two weeks later, instead of getting a promotion, she got laid off.
With a four-month-old and a two-year-old at home, she realized something:
She didn’t want her family’s financial future in the hands of anyone else ever again.
So she decided to build her own business.
Her first goal was simple: make her first dollar.
Then prove the business idea by earning $3,000 by the end of August.
She made her first money in July.
By the end of August, she had earned over $15,000.
By November—right before the trip—her business had earned more than $25,000.
They took the trip.
And it was magical.
But then… life changed in the most devastating way.
“The Day After Thanksgiving, My Husband Didn’t Wake Up.”
After returning from France, they came home, prepared for Thanksgiving, and had a full house planned—53 people coming to celebrate.
And then, the day after Thanksgiving, Bevin’s husband passed away unexpectedly in the middle of the night due to undiagnosed heart disease.
Suddenly, Bevin was a solo parent of two kids under three… with a business still new… and without her best friend and biggest cheerleader.
She didn’t “bounce back.” She didn’t start a movement the next day.
She was honest about that.
There were days she could barely get off the closet floor.
But eventually, she found what helped her move forward—and what helped her build a framework that now supports thousands of women.
Movement Over Mindset
One of the biggest takeaways from this conversation:
You don’t have to fix your mindset before you take action.
Bevin calls it movement over mindset.
Sometimes you’re grieving. Sometimes you’re overwhelmed. Sometimes you’re anxious, tired, and discouraged.
But you can still take a tiny step.
A micro step.
Not because everything feels good… but because staying stuck hurts more.
What’s a “Micro Action”?
Bevin explained this in a way I love—because so many women say they’re taking “small steps,” but the step is still too big.
A micro action is the smallest possible action you will actually take.
Examples:
- If you want to build a website… your micro action might be buying the domain.
- If you need to write a blog post… your micro action might be opening the document.
- If you want to send an email… your micro action might be writing the first sentence.
Because micro actions build momentum.
And momentum creates motivation.
Not the other way around.
The DAMN Framework
Bevin’s work is built around her DAMN framework, and yep—she says “damn” a lot on purpose. 😉
DAMN stands for:
- D — Decide & Declare
- A — Attend Your Own Party
- M — Moments, Not Minutes
- N — Now Is the Time
In this episode, we focused mostly on the D, because it’s the foundation for everything else.
Decide: Your “DAMN Manifesto”
Bevin shared that deciding is about getting crystal clear on your YES—your top priority right now.
And then pairing it with what she calls your six-dimensional why, because your dream can’t hang on one flimsy reason.
The six dimensions are:
- financial
- emotional
- mental
- physical
- social
- spiritual
Because if your only “why” is money… what happens when money is slow?
If your only “why” is your kids… what happens when you’re exhausted?
But when your why is layered, you can lean on different parts of it depending on what season you’re in.
Declare: Layered Declarations
This part was so good.
Bevin said declaring your dream doesn’t mean blasting it to everyone on social media immediately—because too many people will unintentionally derail you with doubts.
Instead, she teaches layered declarations:
Start with 2–3 people whose only job is to be your cheerleaders.
Then expand outward as your confidence and momentum grows.
Your dream is like a newborn—you don’t hand your newborn to strangers.
You protect it while it grows.
“How Do You Do It All?” (Solo Parenting + CEO Life)
Bevin also shared something I wish more women would say out loud:
She has help.
She outsources at home and in her business because time and energy are not unlimited resources.
Her point was simple:
You can make more money.
You cannot get time back.
She encourages women to do the math:
If you pay someone $100 to take tasks off your plate, can you use that time to:
- make $100+ back in your business, or
- spend it where it matters most (your kids, your health, your peace)?
Outsourcing isn’t “extra.”
It’s a strategy for sustainability.
Permission vs Support
Another mic-drop moment:
Bevin said we often confuse permission and support.
You don’t need permission to go after your dream.
But you can ask for support—and support might not look like you expected.
Someone might not join your business… but they might buy your product.
They might not attend your event… but they might share it.
They might not “get it”… but they might still love you.
The key is getting clear on what kind of support you actually need—and from whom.
