The Truth About Momentum in Business
Today’s episode is a solo one, and we’re talking about something that can completely change how you show up:
Momentum.
Not just getting into it… but staying in it.
Because here’s what I see all the time (and yes, I’ve been here too):
- You don’t know what to do each day to move your business forward
- You do know what to do, but you’re not doing it
- You’re doing “all the things” but not seeing results
- You feel like you’re constantly starting over
So I’m sharing five tips to help you build momentum and keep it going.
And these actually do build on each other in order, so follow along.
Tip 1: Find Your Why
We’ve talked about this before, but it’s worth repeating because it’s foundational:
You need a clear WHY.
And I recommend having two:
✅ A financial why
Something measurable you can track:
- Have I made $1,000 this month?
- Have I hit my first $10k month yet?
- Have I reached $100k? $200k?
Money is a clean metric. It gives you a “thermometer” you can check.
✅ An impact why
This is the heart-string reason:
- the people you want to help
- the legacy you’re building
- the life you’re creating for you and your family
- the version of you you’re becoming
This is the “deep breath” why. The one that keeps you going on the hard days.
Pro tip: Try recording your why in a voice memo and listening to it—especially on days you need a reminder.
And in true Disney form…
“If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will get you there.”
(Hello, Cheshire Cat wisdom.)
A clear why helps you stop chasing every road and start choosing the ones that actually lead where you want to go.
Tip 2: Make a Plan (and Stick to It)
If you want momentum, you need structure.
Set goals. Create a schedule. Decide what matters most. Then commit.
That might look like:
- batching content one day
- doing connections on another day
- client work blocks
- CEO / strategy time
And listen—if you struggle to stick to your plan, that doesn’t mean you’re broken.
It just means you might need:
- your calendar to hold you accountable
- a coaching container
- an accountability buddy
- a system that makes it easier to follow through
Momentum isn’t magic—momentum is planned.
Tip 3: Take Constant Action
Once you have your plan…
Do the do.
Even if it’s small. Even if it’s not perfect. Even if you’re not “feeling it.”
Because consistent action turns into progress, and progress turns into momentum.
And as our girl Dory would say:
“Just keep swimming.”
If you ever feel overwhelmed, break your plan into small, doable tasks and take the next step. Progress is still progress.
Tip 4: Surround Yourself with Positivity (and the Right People)
Momentum is hard to build in a negative environment.
You need:
- community
- encouragement
- people who get it
- people who are building too
And if you’re joining a coaching container or mastermind, here’s my recommendation:
Try to be in rooms where you’re not the most advanced person.
Not because you’re behind—because you want to be pulled up. You want to learn, expand, and see what’s possible.
And remember:
“Even miracles take time.”
(Thanks, Fairy Godmother. 💖)
Momentum is not overnight. It’s built through seasons. But the right people make the process feel lighter—and a lot more fun.
Tip 5: Celebrate Your Wins
This one is easy to skip… and it’s also one of the most powerful.
Celebrate your wins—big and small.
Because when you celebrate, you reinforce:
- “This is working.”
- “I’m making progress.”
- “I can do hard things.”
- “I’m becoming her.”
Celebration keeps you motivated, and motivation fuels momentum.
Your celebration can be anything:
- a trip
- a fancy coffee date
- a Reiki session
- investing in something that supports your growth
- sharing your win with your community
Wins don’t have to be massive to matter. A win is a win.
A Reminder: These Tips Can Evolve
Here’s the best part:
Your why can change.
Your plan can change.
Your schedule can change.
Your community can change.
Momentum isn’t about doing everything the same forever.
It’s about building a strong foundation, staying consistent, and adapting as you grow.
Final Pep Talk (Because You Know I’m Not Letting You Leave Without One)
You’re not behind.
You’re not broken.
You’re not “bad at consistency.”
You just need the right foundation and the right support to build momentum in a way that actually fits your real life.
