If you’ve ever felt nervous about showing up on video or unsure where to start — this post is for you. Today we’re diving into one of my favorite ways to grow your business and boost your visibility: video marketing.
Whether it’s live video, Reels, TikToks, or YouTube Shorts, video is one of the most powerful ways to connect with your audience, build trust, and stand out online. Let’s talk about how to make it simple, strategic, and (most importantly) fun.

Why Video Matters More Than Ever
Video is the fastest way to build that all-important know, like, and trust factor with your audience. When people see your face, hear your voice, and feel your energy, they connect with you on a deeper level.
And here’s the best part — you don’t have to be perfect. People relate to real, not polished. Show your personality, your quirks, even your behind-the-scenes moments. The more human you are, the more your audience will feel like they know you — and that’s exactly what helps you stand out.
Reels, TikToks, and Short-Form Video
If you’re not already playing in the short-form video space, it’s time to start! 🎥
Choose one platform to focus on — Instagram Reels or TikTok — whichever feels more comfortable. Both have huge potential to get your content in front of new audiences.
Here are a few quick tips:
- Pick one platform to master first.
- Create directly in the app (Instagram prefers this for reach).
- Keep it simple and authentic. You don’t need fancy transitions or dancing if that’s not your style.
- Add a clear call to action. Tell viewers exactly what to do — follow, comment, or share.
- Done is better than perfect. The more you post, the better you’ll get.
One of my favorite ways to stay consistent is to batch create my Reels. I’ll grab a few outfit changes, my props (like my Mickey ears and Thrive products!), and record multiple videos at once while the lighting is good. In less than an hour, I can create a week’s worth of content!
The Power of Live Video
Live video takes things one step further. It allows your audience to interact with you in real time, and it gives them an inside look into your life and business.
Here’s a quick checklist for going live with confidence:
✅ Have a clear topic and title. Let people know what your live is about.
✅ Start with an introduction. Share who you are and what you’ll cover.
✅ Show up with energy! Your vibe attracts your tribe — so “BU times two” as I like to say.
✅ Give value, don’t just sell. Teach something, share a story, or inspire your audience.
✅ Include a call to action. Tell viewers what to do next — click a link, comment, or message you.
You can go live to share quick tutorials, your favorite products, a behind-the-scenes moment, or even something you learned from a book or podcast. People love stories and they love seeing your journey.
Remember, your live videos don’t have to be long — 15–20 minutes is plenty. And if only one person shows up live, that’s still a win! Others will watch the replay later.
Repurpose Your Video Content
Once you’ve gone live or filmed a short video, don’t let it disappear into the feed! Repurpose that content to get more eyes on it.
Here are a few ways to reuse your videos:
- Upload to YouTube or IGTV.
- Share the replay in your email newsletter.
- Pull quotes or tips to turn into graphics.
- Transcribe it into a blog post (like this one 😉).
- Use clips in your Instagram Stories.
Repurposing saves time and keeps your content working for you long after you hit “end live.”
What to Talk About on Video
Not sure what to say when you go live or make a Reel? Here are a few ideas to spark inspiration:
- Share your personal story or journey.
- Teach how to do something your audience wants to learn.
- Talk about a lesson from a podcast or book you’re reading.
- Do a “Top 3” or “5 Tips” style video (these perform really well).
- Review a product or tool you love.
- Give a behind-the-scenes peek into your day or business.
- Share motivation or mindset tips that helped you.
The truth is, if you’re doing your personal development and learning something new every day, you already have plenty of content to share!
