Why Learning Isn’t Enough: The Missing Piece Between Knowledge and Business Growth

📚 Are You a Learn-It-All… or a Do-It-All?
You’ve heard me say it before:
“You’ve got to learn it all to earn it all.”
But today I want to take it one step further.
Because learning — on its own — does NOT equal earning.
There’s a huge missing middle step.
✨ Action.
✨ Implementation.
✨ Doing the thing.
You can attend every conference, binge every podcast, join every mastermind, read every personal development book, and still not grow your business if you’re not doing what you learn.
✍️ My Simple Hack for Turning Inspiration Into Action
Here’s what I’ve started doing — and I highly recommend it if you’re a note-taker like me.
Whenever I’m:
- on a coaching call
- listening to a podcast
- at a team huddle
- attending a company training
- sitting in a conference
…I divide my notes into two columns:
1️⃣ Inspiration + Ideas
These are my “aha!” moments — quotes, concepts, reminders, strategies.
2️⃣ Action Steps
These are the things I write down that I MUST do next.
Not someday.
Not “when I get to it.”
Not “when life slows down.”
These are the things I need to execute ASAP to move my business forward.
Then — here’s the important part:
👉 I pick at least ONE action to complete immediately after the call.
Even if it’s small.
Even if it’s quick.
Even if it’s uncomfortable.
Because inspiration without implementation is just… entertainment.
🛠️ You Don’t Need Fancy Gear to Take Real Action
A perfect example:
A coach recently gave me some feedback about my livestream setup:
lighting, backdrop, sound, camera angles — all the things.
So I made a list of the small upgrades I wanted to order and knocked them out that same day.
Not because you need fancy gear — I’ve been doing live video for YEARS without it — but because once the tools are there, there are zero excuses left between you and the action.
Same with:
- starting a podcast
- launching a website
- writing a blog
- creating a course
- hosting a workshop
Just take the first step.
Buy the domain.
Order the mic.
Make the Canva graphic.
Press record.
Once the thing exists, you remove the mental block.
💡 If You Only Have 15 Minutes… CHOOSE ACTION
At the end of the day, if you have a short window of time and you’re debating:
Training or taking action?
Always choose action.
You already know the basics:
- Make connections
- Show up in your stories
- Build your brand
- Create content
- Follow up
- Invite
- Serve
- Sell
You don’t need another masterclass to do these things.
You need courage.
You need consistency.
You need to stop avoiding the uncomfortable actions that create real growth.
🌱 Staying Comfortable = Staying Stuck
If you stay in your comfort zone…
- you will not grow
- you will not scale
- you will not build the business you desire
- you will not reach the next level
Getting uncomfortable is the price of admission to your dreams.
Was it uncomfortable for me to start a podcast in a small Ohio town where nobody I knew was doing what I do?
YES.
But here’s the thing:
People are going to talk about you anyway.
So give them something worth talking about.
✨ Your Identity Matters More Than Your Product
A quick sidebar, because this matters:
Stop hiding behind cute-but-meaningless social media handles like:
❌ @FarmGirlLD1
❌ @SunshineMama88
❌ @NailBossMomLife2020
People can’t find you.
People can’t remember you.
People can’t tag you.
People can’t hire you.
If you’re building a personal brand, use your NAME.
Claim your domain.
Claim your handles.
Claim your identity.
Because YOU are the brand.
