Back-to-School Reset: How to Rebuild Your Routines, Energy & Business Flow This Season

Hi friend! Welcome back to the Passports, Profits and Pixie Dust. I’m Lindsay Dollinger—high school Spanish teacher, dog mom, world traveler, direct seller, and your business bestie who helps women build their social selling business the right way so you can make more money, live your dream life, and see the world.

If we haven’t met yet—hey! I’m so glad you’re here.

Today’s post might sound like it’s for teachers… but it’s absolutely for anyone who feels like they need a reset, a routine, or a little structure as we head back into “normal life” after summer.

Whether you’re:

✓ a teacher heading back to the classroom
✓ a mom adjusting to school-year schedules
✓ or a woman whose summer routines were all over the place

…this is for YOU.

Let’s talk back-to-school energy, rebuilding consistency, creating routines that actually work, and getting your business ready to thrive—not just survive—this season.

Why This Season Feels Like a Hard Reset

For me, summer and the school year feel like two completely different universes.

My summer schedule is flexible, slower, more open.
My school-year schedule? Not so much.

I’m a high school Spanish teacher in a small, rural public district (yes, lots of interesting challenges come with that…), and when the school year starts, life shifts fast.

And while people used to deeply associate me with teaching, my branding has become so focused on women empowerment, direct selling, health, and business that many people don’t even know I’m still in education—which was intentional, for a lot of reasons.

But because I’m heading back to school soon, I’ve spent the past few weeks intentionally rebuilding my routines so I can step into the school year feeling grounded instead of overwhelmed.

Here are the things I’m doing—and what I recommend YOU do too.

1. Rebuild Your Morning & Evening Routines

The bookends of your day matter.

I’ve been really intentional about resetting both my morning and evening routines, and here’s what that looks like:

My evening routine (the most important one for me):

  • Putting my phone away earlier
  • Reading before bed—but not business books
  • Swapping personal development for fiction at night so my brain can unwind
  • Creating a true mental “off” switch

Right now, I’m reading the Outlander series (send help, I’m obsessed 😂), and I’ve read something before bed every single night for a month.

Even just a few pages.

If you tend to be a workaholic (like me), this is HUGE for mental health and preventing burnout.

Try this:

Before bed, do something:

  • not on a screen
  • not business related
  • not stimulating

Your sleep—and business—will thank you.

2. Build Your Fitness Routine BEFORE life gets hectic

Working out during the school year? Hard.

Working out before it starts? Much easier.

That’s why I joined a 6-week Power Zone Challenge through Peloton. I love it because:

  • it gives me structure
  • it removes the guesswork
  • it keeps me accountable
  • it’s scheduled into my calendar

I have my rides scheduled three days a week at specific times. No thinking required. It’s just part of my rhythm now.

Try this:

Find a program that gives you:

  • structure
  • consistency
  • no decision fatigue
  • a way to track progress

Whether that’s Peloton, Pilates, walking, Orange Theory, Beachbody, or something else—you do YOU.

The point is movement → clarity → better business energy.

3. Reset Your Nutrition & Meal Planning

Back-to-school season brings chaos, and the first thing to go is usually nutrition.

For me, that’s not an option.

I have weight-loss goals and I feel better when I’m fueling well, so this week I:

  • rejoined Weight Watchers
  • signed up for Home Chef
  • will likely add Freshly for weekly lunches
  • planned out 3 dinners per week that are already done for me

Because fewer decisions = lower stress.

Try this:

  • Pick a meal service
    OR
  • Choose one meal prep day
    OR
  • Map your meals out by theme nights (Taco Tuesday, Sheet Pan Thursday, etc.)

Make food EASIER—not harder.

4. Declutter Your Space (Your Mind Will Follow)

You know how a messy room makes your brain feel messy?

Yeah. Same.

I finally grabbed an 80-gallon trash bag, went to my closet, and threw in anything:

  • I haven’t worn in years
  • that doesn’t fit
  • that I was holding onto “just in case”

It was HARD (emotional attachment is real), but oh my gosh—freeing.

And yes, the bag weighed like 80 pounds and I needed help hauling it to my car. But it is OUT of my house and the energy shift is amazing.

Try this:

Choose ONE small area:

  • a drawer
  • a shelf
  • your car
  • your desk
  • your bathroom cabinet

Declutter it and notice the mental clarity that follows.

5. Build Your Business Back Into Your Routine

Once your:
✨ home
✨ health
✨ movement
✨ sleep
✨ environment

are aligned…

…it becomes so much easier to work your business with intention instead of chaos.

When life feels structured, YOU feel structured.

And that energy?
It impacts your sales.
Your content.
Your team.
Your growth.
Your confidence.

The back-to-school season is the perfect time to reset your rhythm and step into your next level.

Pick one thing from this list.
