Today’s episode: a training I did for Beauty Boost chapters
This episode is a recording of a training I did as a Beauty Boost Ambassador. I’m based near Columbus, Ohio, and I get to host one virtual event a year—and this training was all about:
✅ Automating
✅ Delegating
✅ Productivity & time management
…but not just in your business—in your life.
Because here’s what I’ve learned: when your life runs smoother, your business (and your energy) benefits too. And you do not need to be an entrepreneur for these tips to change everything.
Step 1: Get clear on what you actually want (aka: your priorities in this season)
Before we even touch productivity hacks, we have to start here:
What are your priorities in this season?
Because priorities change. For example, I recently ran my first (and last 😂) marathon at Disney World. During that season, my business was not priority #1—training was. Now that it’s done, I can shift my focus back.
So give yourself permission to name what matters right now.
Here are a few reflection questions:
-
Where is life going really well right now?
-
Where do you feel overwhelmed or behind?
-
How are your current habits supporting your goals?
No judgment—just awareness.
Try this tool: The Wheel of Life
If you’ve ever done the “Wheel of Life,” you know how powerful it is.
You rate different areas of life (like health, friendships, finances, career, personal growth, etc.) from 1–10, then you can instantly see where you feel most fulfilled—and where you might need boundaries, structure, or support.
It’s one of the easiest ways to get clarity without overthinking everything.
Time-saving hacks that actually make a difference
1) Pick a weekly planning time
I like Sunday mornings. I look at the week ahead and plan around what matters most.
2) Time block your life (with buffer time!)
If something takes an hour, don’t schedule it for exactly an hour. Include time for:
-
transitions
-
water/snacks
-
cleanup
-
driving
-
“my brain needs a minute” time
Future-you will thank you.
3) Find a planner/calendar you’ll actually use
I use a mix:
-
phone calendar
-
Google Calendar
-
written planner (because I’m visual and I love crossing things off)
4) Color-code your priorities
If your goal is “more family time” but your calendar is all work colors… you’ll see it instantly.
5) Use reminders like it’s your job
Reminders are a lifesaver when you’re mid-task and you think, “Oh I need to cancel that…” or “I need to message my boss…”—set a reminder and go right back to what you were doing.
Bonus: set recurring reminders (weekly planning, bedtime routine, medication, etc.).
6) Check email at designated times
Constant inbox checking destroys focus. I aim to check email about 4 times/day.
And I keep notifications OFF for social media (because there is no such thing as a social media emergency).
7) Download the apps that save you trips
-
banking apps
-
credit card apps
-
vet apps (for refills and food!)
-
shipping tools (like Pirate Ship for labels and pickups)
8) Stack errands
If you’re already out, what else can you do on the same trip? Fewer trips = time saved + less stress.
9) Put things back when you’re done
It sounds basic, but how much time do we waste looking for scissors, passports, chargers, etc.? A “home” for everything saves so much mental energy.
10) If it takes less than 5 minutes—do it
Tiny tasks pile up and become heavy. Knock it out if you can.
11) Create boundaries you actually stick to
A boundary example: bedtime. I function better with more sleep, so I protect it.
Your boundaries should support your goals.
12) Keep a “Dreams List”
Not everything needs to happen right now. Keep a running list of dreams for later seasons—so you don’t feel like you’re failing if you’re not doing everything at once.
Helpful apps + tools
Here are a few favorites mentioned in the training:
-
Screen time limits on your phone (grayscale at night is a game changer)
-
Trello / Asana / ClickUp / Airtable (project organization)
-
Amazon Photos / Google Photos / iCloud (auto-backup)
-
Unroll.me (cleans up promo emails into one daily digest)
-
Noisli (focus sounds + playlists)
-
1Password (password manager)
Automation: make life run on “easy mode”
Habit stacking
Pair a new habit with something you already do. Example: brushing teeth → read 5 pages → quick meditation.
Prep the night before
-
clothes laid out
-
gym bag ready
-
lunch planned
-
keys/purse/wallet in one spot
Morning decisions steal time (and energy).
Email yourself future reminders
Schedule an email to yourself for next week/month when you’ll need it—ideas, worksheets, motivation, anything.
Auto-delivery & subscriptions
-
prescription meds by mail
-
pet meds + food auto-ship
-
cleaning supplies
-
shampoo/skincare refills
Robot vacuum (seriously, do it)
If you have pets or hardwood floors, this one saves a shocking amount of time.
Meal planning options
If cooking drains you, you don’t have to force it.
Options:
-
meal subscription kits (Green Chef, HelloFresh, etc.)
-
premade meals (Factor was mentioned a lot!)
-
local meal prep companies
-
meal plans with grocery lists (so you don’t have to think)
Workout plan in advance
Schedule classes ahead of time, or stack workouts in your app so you’re not scrolling and deciding when you’re already tired.
Zoom auto-record
If you’re in business or meetings constantly, this is a tiny setting change that saves mental load.
Delegation: what do you actually have to do?
Ask yourself this:
What truly requires you?
Because a lot of tasks are not your “zone of genius.”
Delegation ideas:
-
house cleaning
-
lawn mowing
-
meal prep
-
childcare help
-
kids doing chores (age-appropriate!)
-
using an Instant Pot/Crockpot
-
outsourcing small business tasks (Fiverr, virtual assistant, etc.)
And I want to say this clearly: don’t feel guilty.
If outsourcing saves you an hour a day and gives you back time for your health, your family, your business, or your peace—then it’s worth it.
Productivity reminders you need to hear
“No” is a full sentence
If it’s not aligned with your priorities, you’re allowed to say no without guilt.
Double up tasks (the good kind of multitasking)
Listen to podcasts/audiobooks while:
-
doing dishes
-
folding laundry
-
commuting
-
walking
-
showering (Bluetooth speaker for the win)
Do your “life admin” in one batch
Make appointments, pay bills, schedule annual checkups—knock it out in one block so it’s not constantly floating in your brain.
Know when your energy is highest
Do your hardest tasks when you’re most “you.”
For me: right after school is when I have the best energy—so that’s when I work out and do client calls. Later at night? I’m toast.
Work with your energy, not against it.
Final thoughts
This training was packed, but here’s the truth:
You don’t need to overhaul your whole life overnight.
Pick one change:
-
turn off notifications
-
plan your week on Sundays
-
set 3 reminders
-
stack errands
-
order one subscription
-
schedule workouts in advance
Small shifts create huge momentum.
