How to Instantly Uplevel Your Social Media Presence as a Direct Seller

Hi, friend! I’m Lindsay Dollinger — high-school Spanish teacher, dog mom, world traveler, and direct seller turned business mentor for women building freedom-based lives. I help women in direct sales do business the right way so they can earn the income they deserve, live their dream life, and travel the world.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way… let’s dive into today’s training. 🚀

I’m literally recording this one in the car on the way home from my Monday job because I had some quick, actionable tips on my heart that can instantly elevate your social media and make you more magnetic as a business owner.

If you want to attract better customers, build authority, and stop blending in with every other consultant online… this is for you.

1. Start with Your Profile Photo — It Must Be YOU

The very first thing people see when they land on your profile is your photo. And yes, this matters. A lot.

Here’s what your profile picture should be:

  • A clear photo of your face
  • Shoulders up preferred
  • Good lighting
  • No filters
  • No text or company logos slapped across it
  • No group photos where people have to guess who you are

Think of this as your storefront window. Make it easy for people to recognize you!

If it’s been 5–10 years since you updated it, or it’s heavily edited, or it features more dog than human… it’s time for a refresh. 😉

2. Your Cover Photo Should Support Your Brand

Here’s where you get to be intentional.

Your cover photo can be:

  • A branded graphic with your tagline
  • A photo of you with your website
  • A clean, on-brand image showcasing who you help

What it shouldn’t be:

  • A blurry family photo (unless your brand truly centers around family)
  • Something random that doesn’t communicate who you are or what you do

Your cover photo is prime real estate — use it well.

3. Clean Up Your Bio: Tell Me Who You Help + How

Under your profile photo on Facebook, you get a small amount of text space. Use it wisely.

Instead of:
✨ Dog mom | Wife | Blessed 🙏 | Consultant with XYZ | Traveler ✈️

(This tells me nothing unique about you.)

Try:
👉 I help busy women create more freedom through confidence, community, and direct sales done differently.

Your bio should include:

  • WHO you help
  • WHAT you help them do
  • HOW you help them

Add emojis if you want — but keep it clean and intentional.

And yes… link your website. YOUR website. Not your corporate replicated link.

If you don’t have a website:
→ Create a simple LinkTree-style page with a branded link.

4. Update Your Featured Photos

Your “Featured” section on Facebook should tell a story at a glance.

Use 5–9 photos that highlight:

  • You
  • Your brand
  • A quote
  • Something personal
  • Your VIP customer group or main community

You can even link one of these photos directly to your Facebook group (a power move I learned from my girl and visibility coach, Chrissy Conner).

People should be able to scroll and immediately understand your vibe and what you offer.

5. Yes, You Can Have a Business Page — but Use It Wisely

FB business pages don’t show your content to many people organically anymore, unless you run ads.

However, they do help with:

  • SEO
  • Being searchable on Google
  • Having a branded, professional presence
  • Keeping consistency if you switch companies

But don’t prioritize this over:

  • Your profile
  • Your group
  • Your stories

Those are where relationships are built.

6. Post Fewer, Better Things

If you’re posting 15 times a day… sharing memes, jokes, recipes, random news, and your aunt’s Facebook post…

❌ You’re confusing the algorithm
❌ You’re confusing your audience
❌ And honestly — you’re not attracting buyers

Instead:
✔️ Post 1–3 intentional posts per day max
✔️ Share entertainment & personal content, but with purpose
✔️ Use stories for the random, fun, silly “extra” stuff

People follow YOU — not chain-mail Facebook posts or the 27th viral meme of the week.

Share YOU.
Share value.
Share original content.

7. Your Stories Matter More Than You Think

The stats don’t lie.

Only ~4% of your friends see your wall posts.
Up to 60% see your stories.

(That’s wild.)

This means:
⭐ Keep an active story every day
⭐ Mix personal + business
⭐ Let people into your world
⭐ Be consistent

This is your warmest audience — use it intentionally.

8. Relationships First, Strategy Second

Once your profile is cleaned up and optimized, your job becomes SO much easier.

Why?

Because now:
✨ You look professional
✨ You look trustworthy
✨ You’re easy to connect with
✨ People get who you are instantly

And when you’re building relationships through:

  • Love bombs
  • Comments
  • DMs
  • Engagement
  • Providing value

… it won’t feel weird or salesy.

You’ll feel like a real person having real conversations — which is exactly how direct sales should be done.

Final Word: If You’re Not Willing to Do These Basics…

… then you’re not really ready to treat your business like a business.

These tiny tweaks take maybe 30–60 minutes but will completely shift:
✔️ How people see you
✔️ How you show up
✔️ How confident you feel
✔️ The quality of people you attract
✔️ The momentum in your sales

Don’t skip the foundational work.

Your future self will thank you.
