What Is Clubhouse & Should You Be Using It for Your Business? A Social Seller’s Guide
Hi, friend!
Welcome back to the Passports, Profits and Pixie Dust Podcast. I’m Lindsay Dollinger—high school Spanish teacher, dog mom, world traveler, and direct seller helping women build their businesses the right way so they can earn the money they deserve and live the life they dream about… plus travel the world while doing it.
Now that’s out of the way… let’s get into today’s biz tip. 😉
This episode/blog comes straight from my favorite recording studio lately—my car—so buckle in! Today we’re chatting about one of the newest, buzziest social media platforms that everyone keeps asking me about:
CLUBHOUSE.
If you’ve been wondering:
“What is Clubhouse?”
“Do I need to be on it?”
“How does it work?”
…then girl, this one’s for you.
So… What Is Clubhouse?
Clubhouse is a newer social media platform that launched in beta and grew FAST. It’s audio-only—think live podcast meets Zoom call meets conference panel discussion.
No posting.
No photos (other than your profile pic).
No DMs.
No captions.
No filters.
Just connection, conversation, and voice.
It’s honestly unlike any platform we’ve had before, and if you’re a podcast lover (which you obviously are 😉), you’re probably going to LOVE it.
Who Can Get On Clubhouse?
Right now (at the time of this original recording):
- It’s invite-only
- You must have an Apple device (sorry, Android friends — unless you have an iPad!)
- New users typically get one invite, but you earn more as you participate
💡 Pro tip:
Even if you don’t have an invite yet, download the app and reserve your username so no one else grabs it.
Make your username and profile name your REAL name — Clubhouse wants authentic profiles, not cute usernames like DogMama123.
What Makes Clubhouse So Different?
✔ It’s all live
✔ It’s all audio
✔ It’s very community- and connection-focused
✔ It’s incredibly powerful for networking
✔ It forces you to SHOW UP (because you can’t hide behind captions or graphics)
And best of all:
You can multitask!
Listen while you drive, cook, fold laundry, get ready, walk your dog… you get it.
If you love podcasts, imagine being able to raise your hand mid-episode and join the conversation. That’s Clubhouse.
How Clubhouse Works (In Real People Terms)
When you open the app, you’ll see:
1. Rooms
These are live conversations happening right now. Anyone can join. Some have 10 people, some have 5,000.
Rooms have:
- Moderators: They run the room
- Speakers: People invited “on stage” to talk
- Audience: Everyone listening
You can raise your hand to be brought on stage, but speakers take turns and moderators control the flow (thank goodness).
2. Clubs
These are like Facebook groups but inside Clubhouse.
You follow clubs based on your interests:
- Business
- Social media
- Travel
- Direct sales
- Teaching
- Mindset
- Fitness
- Faith
- Anything
Clubs host recurring rooms, so following clubs ensures your hallway (feed) shows the topics YOU care about.
3. Your Profile
It includes:
- Your photo
- A bio (this can be LONG — make it good!)
- Links to Instagram & Twitter
👉 IMPORTANT:
Clubhouse doesn’t have DMs.
So if someone wants to connect with you, they’ll tap your Instagram.
This is why your Instagram needs to look like you’re open for business.
More on that later…
How I’m Personally Using Clubhouse
Clubhouse has become an amazing networking tool for me. Here’s what I do:
- Join rooms about:
- Social media
- Sales
- Business
- Direct selling
- Mindset
- Social media
- Listen while I’m doing other things
- If I love a speaker, I click their profile → hop to their Instagram → follow them
- I send a quick message like:
“Hey! I found you on Clubhouse in the social media room. Loved what you shared — so nice to connect!”
I’ve made so many genuine connections this way. Some have turned into coaching conversations, podcast guests, collaborations, friendships—you name it.
How YOU Can Use Clubhouse for Your Business
✔ Build relationships
Clubhouse is a relationship-building MACHINE.
✔ Establish authority
Just speaking in rooms or asking thoughtful questions positions you as someone to watch.
✔ Learn from industry leaders
I’ve been in rooms with huge names—Rob Sperry, Chalene Johnson, top influencers, top network marketers, celebrity entrepreneurs. It’s wild.
✔ Drive traffic to Instagram
If you’re active on Clubhouse, your DMs will pop off.
✔ Grow your visibility
You don’t even have to speak to benefit. Listening and networking is still huge.
But a Big Warning…
Please hear me on this:
Clubhouse is NOT an income-producing activity.
It’s a business-building activity.
There is a difference.
The first few days on Clubhouse?
I spent WAY too long scrolling rooms.
It’s fun. It’s new. It’s addicting.
But don’t let it distract you from your:
- Follow-ups
- Hostess coaching
- Reaching out
- Posting
- Sending samples
- Customer service
- Team support
- Sales activities
Use Clubhouse intentionally, not as a procrastination tool.
How to Make Clubhouse a Smart Part of Your DMO
Here’s a simple strategy:
✔ Listen 10–20 minutes/day
(While doing chores, driving, etc.)
✔ Set a goal to connect with 3–5 new people/day
Send them a quick message on Instagram.
✔ Only join rooms that align with your business & goals
(Not random gossip or drama-filled rooms — yes, they exist.)
✔ Use what you learn
Take notes. Implement daily.
✔ Clean up your Instagram
Because trust me, Clubhouse people WILL check your IG.
My personal next-level goal this month is upping my Instagram content because of the exposure Clubhouse brings.
Should YOU Be on Clubhouse?
If you are:
- A podcast lover
- A network marketer
- A coach or consultant
- A direct seller
- A personal brand
- A relationship-first business owner
- Someone who thrives with community
…then yes.
A million percent yes.
But do not spend 3 hours/day on it.
Promise me that. 😉
