Passports, Profits and Pixie Dust Podcast Episode 18: Planning For A Successful Fourth Quarter Right Now

Published on

Why Planning Your Fourth Quarter Starts Right Now

Whether you’re watching this video version or listening to the podcast on the go, today’s topic is one that will genuinely set the tone—not just for these next few months, but for your entire upcoming year.

👉 Your fourth quarter is your launchpad for 2021 and beyond.
👉 And what you do NOW determines how strong that launch will be.

A lot of people slow down this time of year:

  • Kids go back to school
  • Holidays pop up one after the other
  • Weather shifts
  • Schedules get busier
  • Energy dips

But here’s the truth:

🎯 Holidays are DAYS—not entire seasons.
🎯 Taking your foot off the gas now can cost you months of momentum later.

You deserve rest. You deserve celebration. You deserve family time.
But don’t confuse a holiday day with a holiday month.

Fourth quarter will separate you from the pack—if you plan well and take action.

Step 1: Backward-Design Your Goals

Before you plan events, parties, content, or promos…
You must start with your goals.

Ask yourself:

💭 “By December 31st, what will I feel really proud to say I accomplished?”

Break this into three tiers:

1️⃣ Minimum goal — your “baseline success”
2️⃣ Target goal — the goal you’re truly working toward
3️⃣ Stretch goal — the “this would be freaking amazing” goal

Some examples:

  • Total personal sales
  • Number of parties
  • New customers
  • New VIPs
  • New team members
  • Rank advancement
  • Team volume

Once you set your end-of-year goals…

👉 Divide them by three months
👉 Divide them again by weeks
👉 And break them further into daily actionable activities

Backwards design = clarity + action steps + confidence.

Step 2: Schedule Your Work Time (Before Life Schedules YOU)

If it’s not scheduled…
It’s not happening.

Open your calendar and block off:

  • Your business power hours
  • Your team power hours
  • Team meetings
  • Opportunity calls
  • Planning sessions
  • CEO time
  • Podcast batching time
  • Customer follow-up time
  • Training time
  • Content creation time

Make your business time as sacred as:

  • a doctor appointment
  • your full-time job
  • picking up your kids
  • your workouts

Consistency wins every single time.

Step 3: Plan Your Team Incentives & Leadership Support

Fourth quarter is BUSY, so planning ahead protects your sanity.

Think through:

  • What team incentives will you run?
  • Are you doing booking blitzes?
  • Sponsoring blitzes?
  • Sales blitzes?
  • Monthly contests?
  • Monthly challenges?
  • Team Zoom trainings?
  • Guest speakers?
  • Power hours?
  • Push groups for leaders?

Your team performs better when they know what’s coming.
Give them clarity. Give them structure. Give them support.

Step 4: Map Out Customer-Facing Sales & Promotions

This season brings:

  • Halloween
  • Thanksgiving
  • Friendsgiving
  • Black Friday
  • Small Business Saturday
  • Cyber Monday
  • Christmas
  • Hanukkah
  • New Year’s Eve
  • New Year’s Day
  • Boss’s Day
…AND every themed fun moment in between.

Decide now:

  • What promotions will you run?
  • What giveaways will you do?
  • What VIP-only events will you host?
  • How will you make your customers feel appreciated?

✨ Pro Tip: Instead of discounting everything…
Try upsells, bundles, value-adds, and bonus gifts to preserve profit while still delighting your customers.

Step 5: Plan Your Content Early (Like… Now)

Take advantage of the slower fall evenings, cozy weekends, and indoor time to batch as much content as you can.

Ideas to plan ahead:

  • Holiday graphics
  • VIP group content
  • Party posts
  • Hostess coaching
  • Themed parties
  • Live video topics
  • Holiday tips
  • Shopping guides
  • Customer gift ideas
  • Behind-the-scenes stories
  • Holiday “must-haves”

Schedule as much content as possible so your December self can breathe.

Step 6: Try New Things (Before You Absolutely Need Them)

If something is not working, test new strategies:

  • Zoom parties
  • Live shopping events
  • Girls’ Night In virtual parties
  • Theme nights
  • New giveaway ideas
  • New host incentives
  • New follow-up systems
  • New posting topics
  • New VIP engagement ideas

Innovation = income.

What works today may not work next month. The more you’re willing to try, the faster you’ll grow.

Step 7: Add 1% More to Every Goal

Whatever your number is:

➕ Add one more party
➕ Add one more customer
➕ Add one more team member
➕ Add one more live video
➕ Add one more reach-out
➕ Add one more follow-up

1% doesn’t sound like much…
but 1% more daily compounds into a completely different business.

Step 8: Schedule Your Real Life Too

Don’t fill your calendar with only business.

You need:

  • Time off
  • Family time
  • Holiday time
  • Movie nights
  • Fitness time
  • Sleep
  • Relaxation
  • Self-care
  • Fun

A burned-out business owner is not a productive business owner.

When you schedule your downtime intentionally, your business time becomes more focused.

Step 9: Get an Accountability Partner

Preferably someone who:

  • is not your upline
  • is not your downline
  • is not on your close team

Why?

Because you need someone who:

  • has no emotional investment in your numbers
  • can be brutally honest
  • brings new ideas from another company
  • challenges you
  • supports you
  • calls you out when needed

This one step can change your consistency FAST.

Step 10: Plan Fun Things for Your VIPs & Your Team

Fourth quarter is MAGIC when you lean into it.

VIP customers LOVE:

  • parties
  • exclusive deals
  • game nights
  • fun polls
  • holiday surprises
  • giveaways
  • gift guides
  • themed content

Your team LOVES:

  • prizes
  • contests
  • recognition
  • community
  • connection
  • fun themes
  • shared excitement

Treat your VIP group and your team like a party—because it should feel fun.

Step 11: Be Unreasonably Excellent at Customer Service

People will be stressed.
Shipping will get delayed.
Money will be tight.
Expectations will be high.

Be the business owner who:

  • responds quickly
  • solves problems
  • communicates clearly
  • is kind
  • is helpful
  • is proactive
  • is patient

People remember how you treat them—especially now.

Excellent service = repeat buyers + referrals.

Your Action Step for This Week

Before you leave this blog, grab your phone:

📅 OPEN your calendar.
⏰ Schedule a 90-minute planning session for THIS WEEK.
🖊️ Use that session to map out October.

If you don’t sit down and plan, you’ll stay in reaction mode instead of creation mode.

The Bottom Line

If you:

  • Plan now
  • Implement consistently
  • Add 1% more
  • Serve your customers
  • Support your team
  • Stay visible
  • Stay focused
  • Stay intentional

Your fourth quarter will be massively amazing.
And your Q1 2021? Even better.

Remember the rule:

What you do today shows up 90 days from now.

Put in the work this fall, and you will be SO grateful come January.
