Passports, Profits and Pixie Dust Podcast Episode 49: Biz Tip Thursday: Tough Love — You’re NOT Doing All The Things

When You Think You’re Doing Everything… But Your Business Still Isn’t Growing

Hi, friend!
Welcome back to the Passports, Profits and Pixie Dust podcast. I’m Lindsay Dollinger—high school Spanish teacher, dog mom, world traveler, and direct seller helping women build businesses the right way so you can earn what you deserve and live the life of your dreams. Now that we’ve got that out of the way… let’s get started.

This is another car talk business tip episode—you know, the ones where it feels like we’re just riding together, catching up on life, and then diving into business strategy the way girlfriends do. So let’s chat.

“I’m Doing ALL the Things… But Nothing Is Working.”

Sound familiar?
Maybe you’ve said it.
Maybe you’ve felt it.
I definitely have.

But here’s the truth that hit me (and that I want to lovingly pass on to you):

👉 If you’re not seeing the results you want… you’re probably not doing all the things.

And I don’t mean that in a shame-y or guilt-y way.
I mean it in a clarity way.

Because most of us feel busy
…but aren’t actually doing the things that move our business forward.

Your VIP Group Won’t Build Your Business Alone

This is especially common in party-plan and direct sales:

You post in your VIP group.
You host events.
You try “Girls Night In” posts.
You share graphics.
You schedule content.

And then?

❌ No parties
❌ No sales
❌ No team growth
❌ No engagement

Why?
Because VIP groups build visibility—not relationships.

A happy, thriving direct sales business isn’t built on cute posts.

It’s built on:

✨ Conversations
✨ Follow-up
✨ Invitations
✨ Relationship-building
✨ Connection
✨ YOU showing up as YOU

If people aren’t taking action, 9 times out of 10 it’s because…

➡️ They don’t feel connected to you yet.

Relationship-Building > Everything Else

Want to grow your business consistently?
You must be building relationships.

Here’s how:

1. Get in Their Messages

Not with scripts.
Not with “hey girl” spam.
Not with asks.

But simply:

  • “How are you today?”
  • “I saw your vacation photos—SO fun!”
  • “Just thinking of you. How’s your week going?”

People remember how you make them feel.

2. Use the 2-2-2 Follow-Up Method

This one is gold:

  • 2 days after ordering
  • 2 weeks after delivery
  • 2 months after to reorder

Your customers will feel supported, not sold to.

3. Show Up on Video

Lives, stories, voice memos, or even a video email.

Video speeds up the connection process like nothing else.

4. Let Them In on Your Life

Your dog.
Your dinner.
Your classroom.
Your messy hair day.
Your favorite Disney mug.
Your workouts.
Your goals.

People want YOU—not just the product.

Stop Doing Things That Don’t Work

If something is bringing zero ROI…
let it go.

Examples:

❌ National Day posts no one interacts with
❌ Paragraph-long captions inside your VIP group
❌ Posting graphics without a caption (please stop this!)
❌ Planning events no one shows up for
❌ Spending hours on Canva

Business isn’t about being busy.
It’s about being intentional.

Use the Search Bar Before You Say “I Can’t”

Seriously.
Some of the best coaches I ever had were:

  • YouTube
  • Team pages
  • Company trainings
  • Google
  • My own trial and error

I didn’t have an upline holding my hand when I started.
I figured it out—because I decided to figure it out.

Your success will not come from your upline.
Your success will come from your initiative.

The 80/20 Rule That Every Leader Needs to Hear

This one is for you if you have a team:

👉 20% of your team will produce 80% of your results.
👉 80% of your team will only produce 20%.

Pour more of your time into the 20% who take action.
Not the 80% who say they want it but don’t do the work.

It will free you.
It will help them.
It will keep your energy aligned.

My Own Wake-Up Call (Yep—Even Leaders Fall Off Track)

Let me be transparent.

In late November, I got COVID.
I was sick for two weeks.

Then I went back to school and was slammed.
Then I went on vacation.
Then Christmas hit.
Then New Year’s happened.
Then life.

For almost an entire month:

  • I didn’t build new relationships
  • I didn’t invite
  • I didn’t follow up
  • I didn’t expand
  • I didn’t connect

And guess what happened?

👉 For the first time in a year and a half, I sponsored ZERO new teammates in January.

It stung.
It humbled me.
It reminded me:

➡️ Your results today reflect your actions from 1–3 months ago.

And the actions I didn’t take caught up to me.

But the good news?

Your business can turn around FAST when you start taking action again.

If You’re Feeling Stuck—Here’s What to Do TODAY

Pick one of these and do it today:

✨ Add 3 new Facebook or IG friends
✨ Message 3 customers
✨ Show up on stories (no excuses!)
✨ Go live for 3 minutes
✨ Send a simple “thinking of you” message
✨ Follow up with someone who ordered
✨ Email your customer list
✨ Post something personal—not business
✨ Do a random act of kindness

These small actions compound.
They build momentum.
They rebuild relationships.

And they work.

And Finally: The Woo-Woo Tip That Works Every Time

Energy matters.

People can feel your energy even in text.

If you are:

  • desperate
  • tired
  • overwhelmed
  • discouraged

…it shows up in your messages.

But if you send messages from a place of:

  • belief
  • joy
  • confidence
  • abundance
  • service

…people respond differently.

So before you work:

🎵 Play pump-up music
💃 Move your body
💗 Borrow my belief in you
🌟 Get aligned
🙏 Say a quick affirmation

Energy first.
Strategy second.
Action third.

Your Business Can Change TODAY

You don’t need a new month.
You don’t need a fresh launch.
You don’t need a miracle.

You just need a decision:

➡️ Today, I show up.
➡️ Today, I take action.
➡️ Today, I move my business forward.

If this message spoke to you, screenshot it, share it, and tag me so I can cheer you on.

And send it to a teammate who needs this reminder too.
We all fall off track—but we all get to choose to get back up.

You’ve got this, girl.
I believe in you. 💖
